A woody, amber fragrance opening with herbal citrus top note, supported by a floral herbal body of rose, geranium, muguet and lavender. Leading to a rich, woody amber base with sandal, musk, tonka and moss.
The following is a first hand description of King Henry VIII made in a dispatch from the Venetian diplomat Pasqualigo in 1515:
“His Majesty is the handsomest potentate I ever set eyes on; above the usual height, with an extremely fine calf to his leg, his complexion very fair and bright, auburn hair combed straight and short, in the French fashion, and a round face so very beautiful that it would become a pretty woman, his throat being rather long and thick.... He will enter his twenty-fifth year the month after next. He speaks French, English and Latin, and a little Italian, plays well on the lute and harpsichord, sings from book at sight, draws the bow with greater strength than any man in England and jousts marvelously... a most accomplished Prince.”
Sadly Henry VIII would not remain such a graceful figure in history but he is one of the most infamous English Kings - he married six times and two of his wives were beheaded.
There is a famous rhyme describing the various ends of the wives of King Henry VIII:
"Divorced, Beheaded, Died,
Divorced, Beheaded, Survived"
These beautiful apothecary amber glass jar candles hearken back to the days of those mysterious and magical Victorian chemists. Where all sorts of potions, natural remedies, exotic balms, and downright snake oils were sold from antique wood and glass cabinets, and the glow of coloured blown glass jars gave an atmosphere of their own.
These candles glow with a warming ambiance once they are lit and burn for 30 to 35 hours each. When not in use they have a simple black urea lid to keep them dust free and prolong the life of the wax. We use a 100% natural and vegan blend of wax with a mixture of soy, rapeseed, plant waxes, and coconut. This gives you a nice clean burn.
The candles are very concentrated and hand-blended fragrances and hand-poured with a whopping 7 to 10% pure fragrance. This is the same amount your high-end expensive French brands use for maximum scent throw.
We also use cotton lead-free wicks that will not give off harmful fumes or hidden particles when burned.
Directions for Use:
Please trim wick before lighting and burn for at least 3 hours or until the candle has reached a full burn pool to get the most out of your candle. Never extinguish a candle before full wax pool has been reached if possible. This will help to avoid tunnelling in the candle and give you the maximum life.
About Tudor Rose Bathery:
Our Tudor Rose Bathery collection is one that was always done exclusively at our retail shop and has never before been offered to our stockists.
This collection is inspired and many times 'borrowed' from the ancient formulae collected from centuries of knowledge. Our own chemist has spent years indulging her passion for researching original formulations and scent blends. This often includes spending days translating texts in Middle English and Latin. The end result is a completely original and magical collection that makes it way into the hearts of all lovers of the unique, mysterious, and magical.
With these, your best value is to buy them per dozen at £6.75 each but you can also buy them singly to try out at our retail price of £17.00.
Please note that these candles are made to order and cannot be rushed as the wax does need to cure a few days to develop the scent fully before they are ready to burn and can be shipped to you. Because of this there is a 10-14 day lead automatically added. Some times of the year this can be even more but 10-14 is an average.
If you order bath products at the same time, whichever has the greater lead time will apply to your order.
